INDIGENOUS YOUTH LED-PODCAST CELEBRATES SEASON THREE LAUNCH WITH OPEN HOUSE NOV 17 2023

The Spilling Labrador Under Cedar Trees Season Three Aims to Promote Healing, Awareness & Fundraising For 60’s Scoop Survivors.

(November 14, 2023 – Victoria, BC) – The Spilling Labrador Tea Under Cedar Trees  Podcast is excited to announce the release of a powerful new season in support of 60’s scoop survivors. An Open House will be hosted on November 17th to celebrate the Podcast’s third Season and offer a rare opportunity to meet and greet the hosts.

“Season Three of Spilling Labrador Tea Under Cedar Trees, is called ‘Distorted Path: Indigenous Stories of the Child Welfare System.’  The season will be  10 episodes, centering the voices of Indigenous Child Welfare practitioners, those who have grown up in care, and everything in between.”  shares Madeline Begin, cofounder. “We wanted to do this season for our parents, and to continue to build and strengthen the Spilling Tea community. “

“Historically, Indigenous children have been overrepresented in the foster care system, shares Katelynne Herchak, cofounder of the podcast. “Season three is designed to share the stories in service of healing and to raise much-needed funds for survivors.” 

Spilling Labrador Tea Under Cedar Trees is a powerful audio experience steered by the dynamic duo, Kate and Madz, who intertwine their rich cultural backgrounds and passions to curate stories that shed light on Indigenous realities.  Kate (Katelynne Adams) is a proud Inuk from Kuujjuaq QC, with connections to Rankin Inlet NU. Madz (Madeleine Bégin), of Mi’kmaw and French Canadièn ancestry, is an inspiring teacher dedicated to community, education, and youth-led leadership. 

Recently nominated for the Canadian Women’s Foundation’s ‘Feminist Creator Prize’, Kate & Madz are recognized as diverse feminist creators in Canada who are using digital media to advocate for gender justice.

Season Three Open House and initial episode recordings will take place at the local creative hub, The Haus of Owl. The Podcast is proudly sponsored by Remarkable Communications, and is the recipient of funding for Creators, from  Indigenous Youth Roots.
