Recently, our Remarkable team announced a milestone in our journey of supporting Indigenous leaders, amplifying initiatives, and engaging community members. We will be collaborating with the South Island Indigenous Authority (SIIA) to produce a series of videos that will communicate the importance and impact of the SIIA’s initiatives to the communities, board members, and leaders that they serve.

WHY

The SIIA is a planning organization dedicated to supporting the South Island journey to regain jurisdiction over Child and Family Services. Their decision to work with Remarkable Communications stems from our years of experience in uplifting local Indigenous initiatives. Our team has produced globally recognized work for clients serving people of the Pauquachin, Scia’new (Beecher Bay), Songhees, Tsartlip, T’Sou-ke, and Tseycum communities – all of which the SIIA also represents.

In addition, the SIIA’s values match those held by us at Remarkable Communications. We build respectful, culturally competent communication strategies that amplify the spirit and culture of the communities we serve. This resonates with the SIIA’s commitment to preserving traditional teachings, respecting elder knowledge, and maintaining the overall well-being of their communities.

OUR SUPPORT

Throughout this collaboration, our team will create a series of impactful videos to communicate the importance of the SIIA’s work to their communities, board, and leadership. One of our own Board of Advisor members, Tiffany Joseph, will lead the creative direction, production, editing and quality control of each video. Tiffany is a writer, visual and oral storyteller, and educator of Sḵx̱wu7mesh (Fresh Water people) and W̱SÁNEĆ (Saltwater people, Emerging people) ancestry. She is also trained in motion picture production and has produced numerous short films, including the award-nominated film ‘The Cowichan Sweater: Our Knitted Legacy.’

IMPACT

The impact of this collaborative work extends far beyond the creation of videos; it represents a step towards complete cultural autonomy within South Island Indigenous communities. By reclaiming jurisdiction over Child and Family Services and developing Indigenous laws grounded in tradition, the SIIA is brightening the future of this generation and the next. Our team at Remarkable Communications is honoured to walk alongside the SIIA on this journey to transform, preserve and uplift South Island Indigenous stories.
