Recently, Remarkable Communications collaborated with the W̱SÁNEĆ Lands Trust Society (WLTS) to create a new digital presence distinct from that of the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (WLC) since the WLTS has become its own legal entity. This is part of Remarkable’s continued support for WLTS, an essential project restoring sacred relationships with the land.

About the WLTS
Founded by the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council in 2021, the WLTS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the sacred obligation bestowed upon the W̱SÁNEĆ by XȺLS (the creator) to care for the land and waters. This is done by accepting financial contributions and land donations. In 2023, we helped them raise $35,000 dollars in under three weeks–a whopping $25,000 beyond their original goal! In 2024, we helped them raise another $35,000 in just four weeks, and the donations keep rolling in.
Legal entity and identity
When the WLTS became a legal entity separate from the WLC, we were invited to assist the WLTS in creating a unique and personalized digital presence. To start, we collaborated with them on a community outreach logo-design contest in which we gathered many thoughtful and creative submissions by Coast Salish artists. The WLTS-approved designs helped us shape a stunning new website that accurately represents the WLTS and their mission.
Website Development
The website’s main purpose is to serve as the hub for the Land Back initiative in the W̱SÁNEĆ community. The website educates settlers on ways to participate in reconciliation, whether that be through financial donations or land parcels, and showcases the society’s mission. The entire website design was inspired by the chosen logo, created by Coast Salish artist, LessLIE (Sam).

There was so much stunning logo artwork submitted for this contest! The runner-up artwork, created by Love Raven, is also featured on the WLTS website.

How Our Website Design Enhances the User-Experience:
Our Remarkable team took the time to create a thoughtful web design, considering users and user-experience. From the font choice to the layout, each element’s user-friendliness was analyzed and perfected. The addition of CTAs (call to actions) all throughout the site allows it to serve its purpose in a seamless way; users can easily find where and how to donate no matter what part of the website they’re on. Here are just a few features that enhance user-experience:
- SSL Security. The site is secure, ensuring a safe browsing experience for all visitors.
- Automated receipts. Donors receive tax-compliant receipts effortlessly.
- Streamlined tracking. Simplified donor tracking for a smooth giving experience.
- Beautiful e-cards. Vibrant e-cards designed by a Coast Salish artist are automatically sent to donors.
Here are a few other exciting features we want to highlight:
It’s more than just a user-friendly website! We’ve built in seamless processes and automations to make the user experience (and the experience of the staff at WLTS) smooth and streamlined. Here are some examples so far:
- Contributors who give over $500 receive Indigenous seed packets.
- The website has a photo gallery where visitors can see the beauty of W̱SÁNEĆ land.
- There is a “What’s New” tab which keeps guests informed about new events and updates to the society’s mission.

Conclusion
Our team had so much fun designing and developing the new WLTS website based on Coast Salish artwork of the logo contest winner and runner up. We’re excited to continue supporting and boosting this essential project as it aligns strongly with our beliefs and values. We invite you to uplift this project alongside us! To contribute, explore the WLTS website and/or donate here. Together, we can help to make a profound difference for Indigenous rights, law, and land restoration.
