WHO WE ARE.

Located in beautiful Victoria, BC, on lək̓ʷəŋən speaking territory, our downtown office space provides our clients and community with access to podcasting and audio/video/photography recording studios.

Remarkable Communications is a team of 13+ (and growing) professionals experienced in working with community and proficient in all areas of communications.

We help Indigenous leaders, communities, and organizations preserve oral traditions, engage community members, and create buy-in.

We do this by providing a complete range of on-site, online, and in-studio communications services that Amplify Indigenous Voices, Culture, and Initiatives.

Laural Anne Stark

LAUREL ANNE STARK

CEO and Founder

Laurel is our remarkable Founder and CEO, and it is her passion for making the world a better place—in tandem with her dedication to leadership—that allows her visions to become tangible realities that positively impact her clients and team members every day. One of her favourite parts of her work is the creative problem-solving element. Originally from Treaty 13 (Toronto), she currently lives in Gordon Head – lək̓ʷəŋən speaking territory.

Project Manager

Amy is our multifaceted Project Manager and Operations Coordinator. She loves creating systems and strategies. Amy has a background in all things marketing and founded her own company, Namataste Nutrition, where she gets to teach her favourite topic: plant-based nutrition. What she loves about Remarkable is knowing that our work has meaning and makes a tangible impact. For fun, Amy snowboards, roller skates to disco music and builds functional art.

Project Manager

Meet Eli—our go-to guy for all things client-related. He’s not just good at what he does; he’s great with people, too. Eli’s kind heart and brilliant ideas make him a natural leader. He loves his job because he gets to work with an awesome team and cool clients. Eli lives in Gordon Head/Saanich and is all about making games that everyone loves. He’s the glue that keeps our projects and people together.

Project Coordinator

Rebecca is our remarkable content creator and web design wizard. Their background in arts and culture lends her a unique perspective on all things visual culture. With a decade of experience supporting Inuit and Indigenous artists, makers and curators, she is passionate about decolonization and environmental advocacy. When not working, they can be found bird watching or watercolour painting. 🎨🦆

Project Coordinator

Rochelle is our Senior graphic designer. She uses her sharp wit and artistic talents to provide the team with meaningful, top-quality Graphic Design and Marketing content. She particularly loves collaborating with our amazing team, and it shows through the fantastic work she produces. Based in Calgary, Rochelle hones her creative precision by spending time enjoying hand embroidery.

Project Coordinator

Michelle is a Content Creator specializing in photography and videography at Remarkable Communications. With over 15 years of experience as a multi-disciplinary visual artist across diverse industries, she thrives on embracing new challenges and collaborating with fellow creatives. Passionate about using art for connection and celebration, Michelle is inspired by Remarkable’s mission to amplify indigenous voices; she brings excitement to every learning opportunity to learn. During freetime,she enjoys nature, gardening, creating art, and volunteering in ecological restoration projects, often drawing inspiration from native ecosystems.

Emma puts her expansive mind to fantastic use on our team. She enjoys working at Remarkable Communications because her values and ours sync up perfectly. From our work with Indigenous issues to equality in the workplace to the emphasis on mental health, Emma particularly loves the diversity of topics she can help platform and the flexibility with which she can do so.

Jeannie is the team’s creative and imaginative Visual Artist. She is originally from Scia’new First Nation and has lived in the community all her life. She has created art for longer than she can remember, and her passionate artwork really shines here at Remarkable Communications. In her downtime, you can find her watching movies and indulging in her love of baking.

Meet Lex, a dynamic content creator with a flair for motion and graphic design and a keen eye for video editing. With nine years of freelance experience, Lex moved from the Philippines to Victoria, BC, to further his education and hone his creative skills. Lex was drawn to Remarkable Communications for our dedication to amplifying Indigenous voices and is eager to contribute fresh ideas to the team. When not creating, Lex enjoys hitting the gym, biking, and exploring digital art.

Meg is our resident video producer and editor. With a background in news and story-telling, Meg creates video content that communicates across all digital platforms. When she’s not behind a camera she’s probably in the woods or riding a bike. Meg loves bikes!

A committed nature enthusiast who enjoys spending meaningful time outdoors, Anri loves going for peaceful, grounding walks that allow her to take in the sensations of fresh air and tall trees. Her desire to produce meaningful content through marketing dovetails seamlessly with Remarkable’s focus on creating a wholesome work atmosphere, reinforcing Anri’s enthusiasm for being a part of our team.

Haroon is a skilled Web Developer with expertise in CSS, HTML, and WordPress development. He creates responsive, visually appealing, and functional websites while implementing SEO strategies to boost performance and visibility. Drawn to Remarkable’s exceptional communication and aligned values, Haroon thrives in its collaborative environment. He is excited to elevate Remarkable’s web presence with innovative designs and functionality. Outside work, he enjoys cooking, especially crafting steak and pasta dishes, and staying social through dancing and meeting new people.

With her playful attitude, observant nature, and general radiance, Nadine is the heart of our team. The people—our teammates, clients, and the vibrant community—genuinely inspire her. Every project under Nadine’s guidance is a testament to her passion for bringing people together and creating an environment as lively and welcoming as Nadine’s. She doesn’t just manage projects; she crafts experiences that resonate on a personal note. You can find Nadine making the world more beautiful when not at work through her passion for photography and music.

Language Support

Gabe’s traditional name is K̓asolas. They were raised on the Tsartlip (W̱JOȽEȽP) reserve, where their father is from. Their mother has Kwakwaka’wakw heritage, with ties to Village Island and Campbell River. Gabe is passionate about the Arts, Culture, and Language and has been singing, playing instruments, and acting since childhood. Gabe really shines at Remarkable on-site with the communities we serve. They love making connections with our clients and witnessing the events we support.

Administrative Assistant

Lotus serves as the Administrative Assistant and Human Resources Coordinator at Remarkable, bringing a robust background in information communication technology, learning design, and office operations management. With extensive secretarial and customer service experience, she is passionate about fostering positive change through social justice, decolonization, and inclusion. At Remarkable, Lotus is excited to leverage their organizational skills and analytical insights to streamline operations and enhance team efficiency. Outside of work, Lotus enjoys skateboarding, crocheting, and upcycling home items, often creating content around sustainable fashion and interior design.

Roxy

Community Outreach

Roxy is a dedicated W̱SÁNEĆ mother from Tsartlip Nation, where she has lived for over 30 years. With a heart for service, she has spent more than 15 years working in various roles within the local community. Starting as a youth group leader, Roxy’s journey led her through positions such as social development assistant and health reception, always with a focus on improving the lives of those around her. She has also been an integral part of community programs like Meals on Wheels, ensuring that elders in her area are supported and cared for.

In her free time, Roxy enjoys playing soccer, a hobby she’s been dedicated to for many years. She also has a deep love for travel, mainly to experience different cultures and events. As a proud mother of eight, Roxy recently celebrated the arrival of her first grandchild, stepping into the role of a grandmother with joy and pride.

Roxy is driven by a genuine passion for her community and the people she serves. Her work, hobbies, and family are all integral parts of her fulfilling and vibrant life.

Carol -Lynne

CAROL-LYNNE

Project Coordinator

Carol-Lynne brings a wealth of experience in project management, marketing, podcasting, storytelling, event facilitation, and video production. Her adaptability and passion for complex challenges have been honed through roles in creative agencies, tech companies, nonprofits, and academia. Deeply committed to working with Indigenous communities, she thrives on contributing positivity and curiosity to her work. In her free time, Carol-Lynne volunteers as a TEDx speaker coach, co-hosts a live storytelling show, and enjoys time with her cheerful dog.

Junior Writer

Lola brings a strong passion for writing to her role at Remarkable, honed through academic excellence and personal creativity. Drawn initially by the writing opportunities, she became deeply inspired by the chance to engage with topics she cares about, particularly the historical and present-day treatment of Indigenous communities in Canada. As such, she is eager to make a lasting positive impact through her writing. An aspiring artist planning to study painting in university, Lola appreciates how her role allows her to balance work and art.
