In 2024, Remarkable Communications had the opportunity to produce the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council’s Podcast, The W̱SÁNEĆ SQTO. Our team helped assemble necessary components, such as the podcast’s branding, professional recording production, editing and promotion of the podcast.

The Importance of the Podcast Format
The W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (WLC) wanted to expand its communication efforts by producing a podcast. The new podcast format, in line with the oral storytelling tradition, provides a more personal outlet for discussion, perfect for discussing issues faced by the W̱SÁNEĆ community today.
The goal is to provide a platform that explores subjects important to the W̱SÁNEĆ community. In The W̱SÁNEĆ SQTO, topics covered so far have included:
- The history and traditional practice of reef net fishing.
- Kinship and the historical relationship between W̱SÁNEĆ bands
- Douglas Treaty rights, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the Canadian government, and more.
Behind the Scenes: Production Process
We helped guide the podcast by providing an overview of branding and brainstorming how topics could best be communicated in the podcast format.
Throughout the process, we’re available to help with many aspects, including:
- Helping come up with podcast episode topics
- Creating the podcast artwork
- Recording – the necessary set-up and equipment to achieve excellent audio quality, whether on-site, online, or at our studio at Haus of Owl.
- Audio engineering, processing, and editing to make the podcast a fantastic listening experience.
- Setting up an RSS feed on the website for episode delivery
- Uploading the podcast onto Spotify
Sharing the Podcast with Potential Listeners
Remarkable Communications is also responsible for promoting the podcast to a broad audience focused on the W̱SÁNEĆ community. To make the podcast available for anyone who wants to listen, we uploaded it to Spotify, with plans to add it to other platforms in the future. The podcast is featured prominently on the WLC website with a custom banner and Spotify links embedded in the web page that allow visitors to listen directly to the website or click a link to listen to the Spotify app.
