Donations are a cornerstone of reconciliation efforts. Many settlers may be surprised to learn that simply relying on government funding isn’t nearly enough. The Canadian government does not provide adequate funding to ensure the basic needs of Indigenous communities can be met. Instead of waiting for the government to step up, we can choose to actively participate in decolonization and reconciliation.

There is a tremendous opportunity for all of us to contribute to reconciliation efforts and make a meaningful impact. At Remarkable Communications, our mission is to center, uplift, and amplify the accomplishments, spirit, and culture of the people we serve. We are committed to meaningful allyship and look forward to expanding this list of fundraisers in the coming months and years, and we welcome you to join us on this journey!

Here’s a list of six key community fundraisers on the Saanich Peninsula that can guide us all toward stronger Indigenous allyship and work toward a brighter future.

  1. Rematriate Stewardship Program
  2. WLTS
  3. 60s Scoop network
  4. Geronimo Canoe Club
  5. Joseph Seward Real Madrid trip support
  6. Evelyn and Tyler Underwood support created by the Peninsula Lacrosse Association

Remember, these fundraisers are a snapshot of what’s happening on the Saanich Peninsula. If you reside elsewhere, we recommend that you research local fundraisers in your area.
