Social media is an important part of what we do. Today we are celebrating recent successes, specifically centring our work with the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (WLC) and their TikTok account.
Engaging Youth in Your Communications Strategy
We use a variety of social media strategies to ensure accessibility for all demographics. For youth, we often take to TikTok to keep our content engaging and share knowledge in a modern way. With this in mind, we worked with the WLC to create a TikTok account that shares W̱SÁNEĆ culture and important Douglas Treaty information. This account has been a great success, with over 1000 followers and hundreds of views on each video. Check out the account here.
The Ripple Effect Of Going Viral on Social Media
This Land Back video about a land returning ceremony received over 28,000 views! This ceremony was a significant historical event – it was the first-ever land donation in Canada under this program to an Indigenous organization. Using the strong communication strategy of social media virality, settlers were informed of how they can practice reconciliation. Read about the historic impact here.
The comments were flooded with positivity and enthusiasm about the future of Land Back and other reconciliation efforts. With hundreds of likes and shares, this video reached more of the community and settlers than we could have expected!

Real Impact: More than just views
It is important to note that our success isn’t simply marked by the number of views each video receives. What makes our social media content truly successful is the real-life positive impact it has on the community.

This video campaign for the WLC TikTok account generated more than 20 youth leadership council nominations. Not only are we reaching an audience, we are reaching the right audience. This showcases the skills of our Remarkable team when it comes to social media.
Our social media campaigns also helped the WLTS to raise more than $35,000 dollars (exceeding the goal of $10k) in late 2023. This is monumental–to get involved, donate money or land on the WLTS website.
Conclusion
Social media is just one way your communications strategy can impact your community and our Remarkable team is so grateful to have played a role in this. To learn more about creating an impactful communications strategy and engaging community, check out our free workshop here!
