Recently, the creative minds behind the “Spilling Labrador Tea Under Cedar Trees” Podcast approached Remarkable Communications to plan a launch party to celebrate the launch of the third season. The event was intended to enable the founders to meet their fans, show the behind-the-scenes of their recording process, celebrate the launch of the third season, and record several podcast episodes.

The Spilling Labrador Tea Under Cedar Trees podcast is a powerful audio experience steered by the dynamic duo, Kate and Madz. They intertwine their rich cultural backgrounds and passions to curate stories that shed light on Indigenous realities. Kate (Katelynne Adams) is a proud Inuk from Kuujjuaq QC, with connections to Rankin Inlet NU, while Madz (Madeleine Bégin) is of Mi’kmaw and French Canadièn ancestry. In Season three, Kate and Madz have curated powerful stories of the 60’s scoop and millennial scoop survivors.

ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE

We knew we weren’t working to create just any launch party but an extraordinary event—in just a few weeks. Our team of remarkable minds immediately crafted a project plan and schedule for this two-day event, considering every detail and ensuring a flawless party that matched Spilling Tea’s vision. Upon getting approval from the Spilling Tea team we worked behind the scenes to plan an incredible party.

FULL-SERVICE EVENT + COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT

Our staff coordinated all logistics with everyone’s busy schedules. We booked the party space, recording studio, and a ‘green room’ for post-podcast downtime; crucial due to the heavy subject matter discussed in the podcast.

On launch day, we greeted guests and directed them throughout the venue, answered questions, and curated a memorable culinary experience. Our onsite staff also arranged professional photography for the event. Finally, our social media and media strategy garnered the attention of national media, resulting in a much-deserved spotlight on this groundbreaking podcast.

The launch party took place at Remarkable Communications’ headquarters at the Haus of Owl, where our staff, clients, and collaborators can access an audio recording studio, a podcast recording studio, a photography studio as well as stunning event space.

On the big day, Remarkable Communications served as host, organizer, and curator for the celebration. Our dedicated team of three was on site to give directions to the party, facilitate parking, welcome guests with warm smiles, escort them to the various spaces and ensure that attendees had all their questions answered.

As the event kicked off, party attendees mingled with fellow listeners, met the podcast hosts, and got an exclusive look at Remarkable’s facilities. They also enjoyed delicious snacks and beverages that the folks at Remarkable carefully selected, picked up, and delivered.

Our team also ensured that the event supported Indigenous businesses as much as possible and chose refreshments that included bannock from Songhees Events and Catering, as well as smoked salmon from St. Jean’s Cannery and Smokehouse’s locally sourced and prepared delicacies that guests raved about.

STRATEGIC MEDIA SUPPORT RESULTS IN NATIONAL RECOGNITION

In parallel with the party planning element of the event planning, our team at Remarkable also prepared an intentional media strategy to manage media relations and generate buzz surrounding the party. A well-crafted press release and distribution strategy resulted in on-site CBC coverage and Global News attention, boosting Spilling Tea’s profile.

PRINT & ONLINE INVITES GENERATED BUZZ

The high turnout could not have been possible without the communication efforts of our Remarkable team, who created engaging posts that had our audience eagerly counting down the days until the party. Our creativity didn’t end there – we also designed & printed eye-catching communications materials that turned heads and built anticipation.

CAPTURING THE MAGIC

Our onsite staff also arranged professional photography for the event. Our team provided the photographer with a “shot list” of approved and desired images to capture every magical moment.

THE REMARKABLE OUTCOME

Thanks to our Remarkable team, the launch party was a massive success, prompting the Spilling Tea founders to leave five-star reviews on our Google page.

The founders of the podcast, Katelynne Adams and Madeleine Bégin, in a recent interview on a CBC radio segment hosted by Kathryn Marlow, Kate and Madz graciously acknowledged Remarkable Communication’s efforts, expressing heartfelt appreciation in the following quotes:

“Shoutout to Remarkable (Communications) for helping to put this all together; it’s just been beautiful.”

“Remarkable staff were responsive, professional and very friendly; the media portion was flawless.”

“The event went great; it was exactly what we wanted.”

Our successful collaboration with the Spilling Team team and the national media attention we generated is a testament to our team’s expertise and commitment to amplifying Indigenous voices.
